New Book Study – The Kingdom of Childhood

I am so excited to announce that I am returning to something that I love: book studies!

Book studies are such a wonderful way to come together and not only learn from the page but from the insight and experiences of others. And what better book to dive into than The Kingdom of Childhood.

It is only when you have the right conception of human life as a connected whole that you come to realize how different from each other the various ages are.”
Rudolf Steiner – August 12, 1924

I’ve mentioned a few times before that The Kingdom of Childhood was the first Steiner lecture series that I ever read, and it has over the years stayed a favourite. Maybe that has to do with the clear translation. Or maybe it is because at the time of these lectures the original Waldorf school had been up and running for five years so Steiner himself had more insight into how anthroposophy and education worked together. What ever the reason, when planning during the elementary years, I came back to it year after year for inspiration and insight.

This spring, I invite you to join me discussing Steiner’s indications, in addition to specific time during the last three weeks that I’ve saved to discuss your question regarding curriculum, whether self created or purchased. The details for the book study are below.

When: Tuesdays May 20th to June 24th
Where: Online via Zoom
Time: 6:30-8:00pm EST
Investment: $60CAD, payment via e-transfer (or PayPal if in a different currency)
Materials: The Kingdom of Childhood by Rudolf Steiner (PDF available online if you don’t have the physical book!)

Each week will include reflections for one lecture and its themes (I’ve created theme titles for each lecture), as well as my insights into each of the grades, creating a big picture from which we can then focus on individual needs.

Week One: Lecture One: The Art of Education and The Wisdom of the Human Being, grades 1-3 overview

Week Two: Lecture Two: Observing Life Itself and Touching the Soul with Imagination, Grades 4-6 overview

Week Three: Lecture Three: The World In Me, Me In The World, Grades 7-8 overview

Week Four: Lecture Four and Five: Enkindling the Soul and Whole to Parts, open development/curriculum discussion and answering specific group questions

Week Five: Lecture Six: Feeling into the Curriculum, open development/curriculum discussion and answering specific group questions

Week Six:  Lecture Seven: Rhythm and Reality, open development/curriculum discussion and answering specific group questions

As the weeks progress, each participant will be invited to send in questions they would like answered during the open discussion weeks (questions can be sent anonymously). If no questions are sent in, we will come upon questions organically during our discussion!

Very much looking forward to learning if you will be joining me! Please fill in the form below to register.
