I am very happy to announce that Growing Together in Freedom is growing! My dear friends Marg Beard and Kati Gabor will be joining me in this space and in our newsletters. These spaces are so much more fun with friends! Today, Marg introduces herself, where her passion from home first started, and her journey to becoming a mentor and parenting coach. Welcome Marg!

Imagine a very young girl, making and playing house in whatever space that would lend itself – a basement corner, crawl space of her childhood home, section of a small barn, middle of a lilac tree, forest edge, verandah…………the list goes on. And in these spaces, she was always the creator of home, as well as the parent and teacher of her younger sister.
It is quite evident that to be a parent and teacher in her adult life was meant to be as she became a parent of her three, now adult-aged children; homeschooled them from birth through the high school grades with her life-partner Phil; co-founded Rosewood, a homeschooling group inspired by Waldorf pedagogy, that existed for 12 years; was a faculty member for 7 years of Chiron, a homeschooling conference; a mentor of parents and teachers through the Rudolf Steiner College Canada (RSCC, Toronto) for RSCC’s Foundations Studies in Anthroposophy (distance) program; and then was co-director of RSCC’s Healing Education and Remedial Training (HEART) program.
This woman, whom this story is about, is Marg Beard, who lives in Wingham, Ontario. She now has her own initiative KALLIAS as a ‘Parent and Life in the Home Coach’. Her work and program offerings now extend well beyond the ‘middle of the childhood lilac bush’. Marg offers, locally/nationally/internationally, in-person and on-line mentoring, individual/couple/group workshops, as well as in-home and in-school consultations and workshops. Marg works extensively with processes inspired by Rudolf Steiner and Waldorf pedagogical indications, New Adult Learning processes, artistic activities, movement, practical activities, U-lab/Social Presencing exercises and Kim John-Payne’s Simplicity Parenting impulses – all designed to allow for self-discovery.
Marg welcomes inquiries and invitations to collaboratively explore, discover and connect to the new that lies within each of us, and with renewed inspirations, continue on the journey of becoming who we are meant to be for our children, our families, and our communities.
