Even though we take December off regular schooling, we do use this time to assess our goals and make plans for the next few months. Today we baked some cookies and chatted about the last few months and what we wanted to see going into the new year.
Here are some of the things we will be doing less of, and the things we need more of for the coming months.
We need fewer interruptions. We said yes a lot, and it had us stuttering through our rhythm too often. It made lessons feel disjointed and took us longer to get through certain tasks than was really necessary.
We need fewer topics. Both children had many different projects and assignments on the go and it was hard to keep on top of everything and keep everything moving forward. It was frustrating to them to have to balance it all, even though it was their choice to start the projects.
Along the same thread, we need more completion. Too many projects left undone.
Both my children need more outdoor time. Maybe a challenge will be required to up the ante and create a goal. They will be thrilled.
We also need more baking. Baking Mondays has gone from a family event to a Mom event and both love baking and eating baked goods, so its time to add that back in again.
We need to be more consistent in chores. Me more than anyone, ha! I have been totally slacking and it shows. I think I’m going to have to pull out the room rotation chart again so I can stay on top of things a bit better.
I think that is it. They are slight adjustments, but I think they will make the world of difference.
Until next time,
Marina
