In Waldorf homes and classrooms around the world, nature tables are slowly being crafted for this new season that is upon us.
We live in a small space and did not have room for a dedicated nature table or shelf when my children were growing up. What we did have was a stick hanging above a window and a small window ledge. It soon became tradition to hang seasonal items from the stick and attached kite paper items to the window. Along with a basket of seasonal books in the living room, this became our version of a nature table.
We spent so many hours outside in nature that I didn’t feel the need to intentionally create a space that held nature items that reflected the season. My children, as children do, collected nature trinkets each time we’d step outdoors and they already had a well established sorting method in place. So this seasonal window became more an artistic sign of the changing seasons as we’d add and take away things in circular fashion instead of clearing everything out and starting new each season.
This stick still hangs and the window is still adorned with craft creations.

I love using kite paper crafts on my window as a gentle way to bring seasonal colours into the home and brighten up the space a bit! Today I’ve included a PDF tutorial so you too can enjoy bringing in the rich colours of the season into your home through leaves adorning your window. I always love seeing your creations, so if you make some leaves and you’d like to share, please email me or tag me on Instagram!
