I woke early today, so I decided to snuggle down and do some soul reading. Homemaking as a Social Art is such a beautiful book about our importance in the home and how to cultivate not only home, but ourselves.
As planning for my children comes to a close, I need gentle reminders to plan for my own role and wellbeing. It isn’t only about what we will bring to the children, it is about what we will bring forth in ourselves and how we will hold the home that cradles them.
I cannot be worthy of imitation if I am giving from an empty cup. I also cannot be worthy of imitation if I am unable to see things clearly and am over run by emotion. Keeping home, home educating, and raising a family require the ability to not only hold the space for others but for ourselves as well.
In our fast paced society, this book is a stark reminder of the importance we hold as keepers of the home, a position that has sadly become downgraded in the eyes of many. But luckily, we few know the secret and can be a force that drives change in society with our #waldorfrevolution
