Letting Things Grow

The humble “weed”.

We haven’t been to our cabin in a while, and when we got there these beautiful flowers were all over the lawn waiting to greet us.

I feel like “weeds” are there to remind us what can happen when things are left to be.

When things aren’t fussed with or pruned or manipulated to fit into our picture, beauty grows from a place you didn’t even know existed. Sprouts up when and where you least expect it.

That’s what Waldorf education is to me.

As educators and parents, we don’t always need to be fussing and manipulating and shaping these wonderful human beings. They aren’t here to be filled, they are here to grow! They have in them what they need, and we are here to support that and to present what is needed, what THEY need, to become the beautiful human souls they were always destined to be.

This works best when we don’t live into homeschooling from a sense of fear, worry or preconceived notions about what we think is needed based on OUR needs or expectations.

If you are ever wavering, worrying, stressing (we all do!) about the path you have chosen, remember the humble “weed”. It doesn’t need our fussing to grow, it just needs us to stop for a minute so it can bring forth it’s beauty.

Until next time,
Marina
