Soul Work, Not Grunt Work

My newly-11 year old has changed so much over the last three months. His sleep rhythms have him up later and wanting to sleep in longer, he doesn’t have the same energy throughout the day as he used to, yet he recognizes without any energy outlet he feels emotionally “squirrely’ and unsettled.

And he is always searching for purpose.

Searching for things to do that will contribute, no matter how big or small.

In an effort to balance his new sloth like state with his need for purpose, he looks for activities to do outside, always rhythmic, always with purpose, and always in his own time. He might look like he is dawdling as he shovels our shared city laneway for all the neighbours, but this is soul work, not grunt work ❤
